Lan Nguyen is our lead mediator and principal attorney. She received her Juris Doctor from Chapman University, School of Law in 2002, including a specialization Certificate in Advocacy & Dispute Resolution. Since 2002, Ms. Nguyen has accumulated over 300 hours of dispute resolution training in a variety of fields, such as workplace conflict resolution, family law, consumer issues, unlawful detainer, and community issues.
Ms. Nguyen is fluent in Vietnamese and currently provides private dispute resolution and legal services through Esquire Consulting, Inc. Her areas of practice include family law (divorce, support, custody, and visitation), business litigation (misappropriation of trade secrets, trademarks, and copyright infringement), breach of contract claims, civil rights (use of force, discrimination, and disability access / ADA), personal injury, premises liability, and products liability matters.
Ms. Nguyen was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2002. In 2006, she became a member of the State Bar of New York and the District of Columbia, and is admitted to practice before the United States Court of International Trade. Ms. Nguyen is also a panel mediator for the Orange County Superior Court, and Pacific American Dispute Resolution Center in Los Angeles, as well as a Sustaining Member of the Southern California Mediation Association. Ms. Nguyen is also a panel mediator for the California Agricultural Mediation Program (CALAMP), which provides mediation services to California’s agricultural community regarding farm loans, credit issues, federal farm and conversion programs, rural development loans, and other agricultural issues.
Ms. Nguyen spent several years at national law firms representing landlord, homeowners associations, and property management companies in landlord/tenant actions, as well as, corporate defendants in product liability lawsuits involving exposures to toxic chemicals. Ms. Nguyen has also represented corporations in various business litigation matters, and defended against claims of civil rights violations, including disability access and excessive force claims.
Ms. Nguyen volunteers her time to pro bono and philanthropic activities. Among other things, she has worked with the Vietnamese American Bar Association and the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles on immigration matters for victims of human trafficking and domestic violence. Ms. Nguyen provides pro bono legal services to the Harriet Buhai Family Law Center. Ms. Nguyen is a volunteer mediator with the Los Angeles County Bar Association Civic Mediation Project. She also volunteers her services as a mediator to the Los Angeles and Orange County Superior Courts as a Daily Settlement Officer/Mediator in family law matters.
