Lan Nguyen is our principal attorney and mediator. She received her Juris Doctor from Chapman University, School of Law in 2002, with a specialization Certificate in Advocacy & Dispute Resolution.  Ms. Nguyen was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2002.  In 2006, she became a member of the State Bar of New York and the District of Columbia, and was admitted to practice before the United States Court of International Trade.

Ms. Nguyen spent several years at national law firms representing landlord, homeowners associations, and property management companies in landlord/tenant actions, as well as, corporate defendants in product liability lawsuits involving exposures to toxic chemicals.  Ms. Nguyen also represented corporations in business litigation matters, involving breach of contract, trade secrets, and various business torts.  Ms. Nguyen also represented the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in defending against State and Federal claims of civil rights violations for discrimination and excessive force.

Ms. Nguyen’s current legal practice involves counseling small businesses in labor and employment law, business transactions, and civil litigation matters.  Ms. Nguyen also advises individuals in the areas of nuptial agreements, legal separation/divorce, child custody and visitation, and child and spousal support.  Ms. Nguyen’s practice also includes mediation and dispute resolution services.  Ms. Nguyen’s experience includes over 300 hours of dispute resolution training and services in a variety of fields, such as workplace conflict resolution, family law, consumer issues, unlawful detainer, community issues, attorney-client fee dispute arbitration.  Ms. Nguyen is a panel mediator for the Orange County Superior Court, and the United States District Court (Central District of California), and provides volunteer fee dispute arbitration services through the Los Angeles County Bar Association.

Ms. Nguyen is conversant in Vietnamese and has worked with the Vietnamese American Bar Association and the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles on immigration matters for victims of human trafficking and domestic violence.  Ms. Nguyen provides pro bono legal services to the Harriet Buhai Family Law Center and volunteers her services as a mediator to the Los Angeles and Orange County Superior Courts as a Daily Settlement Officer/Mediator in family law matters.
